Experience

  • Led a large team (peaked at >50 people/c27 FTEs, total contract values >£10M) of technical experts in support of the DE&S P-8A Delivery Team across a range of air engineering disciplines to provide a coherent technical solution to time and budget.

  • Provided technical expertise in Programme and Change management to successfully achieve a Full Business Case (value >£25M) for the ASPIRE programme. Led the development of the change methodology, from initial change strategy to detailed implementation planning for the first post-FBC implementation phase.

  • Brought in as Project Manager for a novel aerospace technology demonstrator project to provide subject matter expertise and project leadership to recover the project from a significant delay, leading to a successful project conclusion.

Career Summary

Richard’s early career was with the RAF as an Engineer Officer, working on the C130 Hercules, as a bomb disposal officer, and responsible for the E-3D AWACs engines and fuel systems.

After leaving the RAF in 2011, Richard moved into consulting, working in Australia before moving back to the UK and joining Frazer-Nash Consultancy. Across this period he ran large and high profile projects, including leading the FNC team supporting DE&S in the delivery of the P8 aircraft.

Richard co-founded Pointer in 2018 and has undertaken PM and Change roles on large (multi-million pound to multi-billion pound) technical programmes.

Hobbies and Interests

“In my spare time I volunteer as a Charity Management Consultant with the Cranfield Trust and I am the Co-Chair of the Governors at my local school. I play touch rugby, ski and enjoy cooking for friends.”
